If the title of this post isn’t clear enough let me explain:
Wanting to do something other then throw a chicken in the cooker with water,
I decided it only made sense to wrap that chicken in bacon and apple slices……
You’re welcome 😉
The result was a VERY moist and flavorful chicken!
No doubt you could use this same recipe for an oven roasted chicken, just know
that it will likely have a different end result…I’d be curious to know though!
It’s a rather simple method with few ingredients, so let’s go!
You Will Need:
1 Whole Chicken (3-5lb)
3-4 Cups Carrots, Chopped
1/2 White Onion, Diced
1-2 Cups Water (I used 2 for this, though 1 would have sufficed)
2 Strips Bacon*, Halved
1 Apple**, Sliced
~ Prepare your carrots and onion and add to slow cooker.
~ Place chicken on top of vegetables and add water.
~ Set apple slices on chicken (I tucked some under the wings and on top)
~ Lay bacon slices over apples.
~ Cover and cook for 8 hours
I served mine with sweet potato chips and the result was de.lic.ious.
* I used turkey bacon, though any kind would do. It would be interesting to try a maple bacon and see how that affects the taste!
** My apple of choice was Honey Crisp, again, use any kind and see how that changes things!
